Caring for your NAOTs and Footbeds

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

For nearly seven decades, NAOT has perfected and specialized in creating the most rewarding gift you can give yourself, a comfortable pair of shoes and sandals in styles you’ll love!

As we age, the importance of having comfortable shoes becomes apparent. For many, the desire for the unsupporting flip-flop and the seemingly attractive shoe however uncomfortable have been replaced by the latest fashion-forward styles offered by NAOT with their comfortable orthodic-friendly removable footbeds.

A unique blend of cork and latex, the NAOT footbed provides flexibility, durability and excellent arch support with shock absorption with every step.

Once you treat yourself to the care of the NAOT comfort family, you’ll notice a remarkable difference in the way you walk. Not only will you walk more freely thanks to the comfort of the NAOT footbed, but you’ll also walk more confidently knowing you’re not only moving easier but you’re keeping your feet healthier and in better shape.

Once you’ve fallen in love with your NAOTs, maintain the integrity and comfort of your NAOTs with these helpful tips:

 Caring for your NAOTs

~To Protect your NAOTs

~Before wearing the shoe for the first time, a protective layer of suitable sealant spray should be applied to the shoe according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. This will seal the shoe against damage by water and dirt.

~To Preserve overall look of your NAOTs

~Prevent the shoe from coming into contact with water and moisture. Drying the shoe in front of a heater or in direct sunlight may damage the shoe. Be sure to polish the shoe once a week with an alcohol-free shoe polish. For nubuk and suede styles, brush up the footbed with a special suede brush. Staining may occur in the initial period of use. The inside of the shoe can be sprayed with a protective anti-staining substance. Wearing dark socks in the early stages of use is recommended.

Replacing Footbeds

Over time, the integrity of the footbed will lessen and the need for a new pair of footbeds will present itself. There is no right or wrong time to replace your footbeds. The overall goal of the footbed is to ensure comfort in the critical areas (hallux support, elevated center and arch spport), stability of the foot inside the shoe, and to aid in the natural shape of the foot. The rule of thumb is simple, if it’s no longer comfortable as it should be, it should be replaced.

It’s important to know which collections come with a removable footbed. In the list provided below, you can determine which collection comes with a removable footbed and which have a fixed, or nonremovable footbed. The type of footbed needed for each is listed.
